Marlon Vera is known for being vocal and now that he's a top-5 UFC bantamweight, that's not likely to change. He recently called out Jose Aldo but has now turned his attention to Dominick Cruz.

Dominick Cruz and Marlon Vera were apparently supposed to fight before the former UFC champion turned down the booking. The now top-5 bantamweight recently spoke about it in an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.

“Before in the ten times he declined to fight me, I’m not calling him a pussy, but he declined a couple of times in the past. He always talking about how he wants to fight someone above him. Guess what, I’m above you right now motherfucker, so now we can go. Now we can go,” the UFC bantamweight said.

UFC star Marlon Vera continued, “They tried to make it when I lost to Aldo, I was [ranked] 14 or 15 back then. He was like, it’s not worth it, it’s ranked too low, blah blah. Then, they tried to make it before the Edgar fight, I was [ranked] like 13 or 11. He said I was too low, he needed someone to push him to the belt. I think if you beat number five, you’ll be pushed to the belt homie.”

It will have to be seen if the UFC has any interest in booking Dominick Cruz against Marlon Vera next after the Ecuadorian beat Rob Font. A fight between the two would certainly have title implications and the matchup would be a very interesting one with a side of beef.
