With the release of VALORANT Episode 4 Disruptions, all players focused on the new VALORANT Agent, Neon being released. What we didn’t expect is another unsung hero of the patch, the LMG that started the Ares meta. A lot of players, even pros, think that this gun is too overpowered or unbalanced. Here’s why.

In the patch notes provided by Riot Games, these are the changes made for the weapon, Ares for Episode 4:

  • Removed spin up
  • Firing rate increased from 10 >>> 13

Ares requires no more wind-up necessary before firing. It also now expends 13 bullets per second instead of just 10. Additionally, Ares already had its innate ability of high wall penetration, as well as having a 50 round magazine making random wall bangs easier and surely effective. With its value of just having 1550 credits, it can surely make the Phantom and Vandal users run for their money. This also changes the game’s meta, since teams can force buy the Ares during the 2nd round, regardless of winning or losing the pistol round. Teams can actively win almost immediately with this gun the moment they have the credits to buy the insane gun.

Here’s a couple of VALORANT Pros reacting to the Ares meta.

Until Riot decides on the date of the hotfix for the overpowered weapon, we will see this weapon wreak havoc. Please enjoy all your games with an Ares 5 stack on both teams almost all of the rounds. If you can’t beat them, might as well join them.
