Video: Hawks’ John Collins sinks game-winning fadeaway to upset Sixers

John Collins, Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks stole a win from the Philadelphia 76ers, thanks to a John Collins fadeaway game-winning jumper in the final seconds of regulation.

Collins, who had 25 points and nine boards in the game, got the ball in the post with less than 15 seconds left. He waited a few seconds before hitting a 13-foot jumper over the outstretched arms of Sixers forward Mike Muscala.

The Sixers immediately called time with nine seconds left. They had several chances to tie the game. Jimmy Butler was fouled by Justin Anderson with 2.4 seconds left but he missed both of his free throws. Ben Simmons and Wilson Chandler missed consecutive tip-ins at the end of the game, giving the Hawks the win.

Kevin Huerter led the Hawks with 29 points, while Dewayne Dedmon and Trae Young added 19 and 18 points, respectively.

The Sixers, who were without All-Star big man Joel Embiid, got 30 points, four rebounds, and five assists from Butler while Simmons had another triple-double with 23 points, 15 assists, and 10 boards. TJ McConnel scored 20 off the bench.

The Sixers remain fourth in the East despite losing their last two games. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks are trying their best to make the playoffs this season. They’re currently 12th in the conference standings.
