The highlights have been few and far in between for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2017-18 NBA season. For the most part, they have largely come courtesy of rookie phenom point guard dennis smith jr.

Of course, tonight was no different after he somehow managed to hit a turnaround fadeaway jumper for the and-1 over Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson. Needless to say, no one in the building was more hyped about his shot than platinum recording artist and fellow statesman J. Cole via House of Highlights

J. Cole is notorious for his love of basketball and is often seen at games across the nation. As some may know, Smith Jr. and J. Cole have shared a close bond since growing up in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Needless to say, the ninth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft did not disappoint after a solid performance with 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists. More importantly, the Mavs pulled out the dominant win to put finally an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cole has been a fan of Smith Jr.’s game ever since the latter was still in high school. That said, it is amazing to see the two have maintained their close friendship.
