The Minnesota Vikings came away from their crucial road win over the Chicago Bears in Week 15 holding a playoff in the NFC. The Vikings held the No. 7 seed, but now, they are back on the outside looking in with the playoff picture in the conference.

The Vikings failed to build on momentum from their two-game winning streak, as they finished with a 30-23 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16. From their woes in converting third downs to their sheer inability to finish red zone drives with touchdowns, the Vikings offense had quite a difficult time in moving the ball against the stout Rams defense.

More so, the Vikings did not have much of an answer for the Rams rush offense — primarily Sony Michel. The fourth-year running back finished with 131 rushing yards and one touchdown in the contest.

As the Vikings currently hold the No. 8 seed in the NFC, head coach Mike Zimmer simply wants to have a game-by-game mentality with the team’s final two contests of the regular season, which he touched on in his post-game press conference.

“I'm just looking at one game,” Zimmer said. “The next one.”

The Vikings may need to cap off the campaign with wins against both the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears — while also getting outside help — in order to make a late push for a wild-card spot in the NFC.

It sure is looking like the NFC will have quite a chaotic finish to the regular season.
