When will Justin Jefferson get paid? That's the question on every Minnesota Vikings fan's heads right now. The star wide receiver is eligible for a contract extension now. Given what he's done in the last three years, it's safe to say that he deserves a big extension.

After signing TJ Hockenson to a brand-new extension, Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah talked about Justin Jefferson's own contract extension, per Kevin Seifert. The general manager reiterated that they want to keep the star wide receiver around.

“We've said it and will continue to say it. Justin (Jefferson) is somebody we want around here for a really long time. We're going to do everything we can to do that. Whenever that happens, it will be a great day for the Vikings and a great day for Justin.”

However, Adofo-Mensah had a rather vague response about whether the Vikings will continue to negotiate with Justin Jefferson when the season starts.

“I'll have those conversations. I think there are times with players, they kind of just want to focus on the season when it happens, so those are joint conversations we'll have with his representatives whenever that time comes.”

It's common for teams to put contract discussions on hold when the season starts. Both the front office and the players often view it as a distraction. They'd much rather just focus on football during the season rather than worry about the money. The Vikings seem to be going where Jefferson pleases, which is a good thing.

That deference to Jefferson's wishes is completely warranted. In just three seasons in the league, the Vikings WR is already one of the best, if not the best, pass catchers in the league. He has reached at least 1,400 yards in his first three seasons, including a monstrous 1,800+ yard season in 2022. Minnesota would be out of their mind if they decide to let JJ walk, or make him unhappy.

Meanwhile, Minnesota is building out the rest of their roster to give Jefferson the space to work on offense. They drafted star WR Jordan Addison in the first round, and as mentioned, extended Hockenson. Can the Vikings finally break the wall in front of them?
