The Minnesota Vikings had a crazy finish in Carolina against the Panthers on Sunday. After squandering a late lead, Kirk Cousins and Co. went right down the field in overtime and scored a game-winning touchdown.

The win for the Vikings came at a cost though. Per the team website, Minnesota will be without their starting cornerback Patrick Peterson for awhile as he heads to injured reserve.

Minnesota announced Monday that Patrick Peterson is going on Injured Reserve, a move that will force him to miss at least three games.

Peterson played 62 snaps but dealt with cramping issues late in the Vikings 34-28 overtime win over the Panthers in Week 6.

Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer said Monday that Peterson has a hamstring injury, but doesn't believe it will be season-ending.

Peterson's injury is a hamstring injury that will now have him sidelined.

Minnesota brought Peterson over in the offseason during free agency in a move to sure-up their secondary which was miserable during the 2020 season. Without Peterson, the Vikings lose a keep depth piece in their secondary. Thankfully for Minnesota, they enter the bye week following the Carolina win so they'll have extra time to put a plan in place that will hopefully work with Peterson out.

Out of the bye Minnesota will face a massive test as the Cowboys will head to Minneapolis on Halloween night for a primetime matchup with the Vikings.
