Minnesota Vikings safety Anthony Harris is set to be a free agent this offseason. But if it were entirely up to him, he would choose not to go anywhere.
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Harris said he has really enjoyed his time in Minnesota. He would prefer to stay with the Vikings long term:
“Yeah, if all things were equal — looking at the organization from a standpoint top to bottom, from the owners down to the coaches down to the locker room and the culture they have. It's somewhere I'd definitely like to stay,” Harris said. “I love Minneapolis, love the organization, it's a good city. The people there are really nice. It's very competitive, so I mean it has it has everything I want and I'd definitely like to stay if possible.”
Of course, it won't be that easy.
Harris will be one of the top defensive backs on the market when free agency kicks off next week. With the Vikings having very limited cap space, he may head elsewhere. There seems to be a decent chance that he will be playing his football outside of Minnesota in 2020.
The 28-year-old is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he racked up 60 tackles, six interceptions, a fumble recovery, 11 passes defended and a defensive touchdown in 14 games.
Harris initially went undrafted, but eventually landed with Minnesota in 2015.
He actually served in a reserve role for most of his first three seasons before finally getting nine starts in 2018. Harris then became a full-time starter in the Vikings' secondary this past year.
