Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut says superstar small forward Kevin Durant is “arguably the best player in the world.”

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is still universally recognized as the top basketball player in the game, but many believe the gap between James and Durant is closing.

Bogut says Durant can score 40 points every night if he wanted to, but that he's playing within the Warriors' system.

In 73 games this season for Golden State, Durant is averaging 26.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per contest. The former MVP is shooting 51.6 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from beyond the arc and 88.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Durant is ninth in the NBA in scoring. He's a four-time scoring champion, but since he's playing with so much talent on the Warriors, KD doesn't have to score like he used to when he was with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Golden State has the best record in the Western Conference at 52-24. All signs point toward the Dubs winning their third-straight title and fourth in five years.

Bogut has played in seven games with the Warriors after he signed with them in March. The big man is putting up 3.9 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 48.0 percent from the floor.
