Chris Paul and the Golden State Warriors are slated to kick off the 2023-24 season at home against Paul's old team, the Phoenix Suns. Paul was traded to the Warriors this past offseason in the hope of stabilizing Golden State's dynamic offense, and some wondered whether or not Paul would start or come off of the bench for his new team at his advanced age.

The answer to that question, at least for Tuesday's game against Phoenix, is that Paul will be starting, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The designation continues Paul's streak of being the only player in NBA history to start at least 1,000 games and not come off of the bench a single time, per StatMuse.

Many people had questions when Paul was traded to the Warriors this summer essentially as a replacement at the guard spot for Jordan Poole. While Paul likely cannot match Poole's electric ability to score the basketball in bunches at this point in his career, he does provide a stabilizing presence for a Warriors offense that struggled mightily with turnovers a season ago.

With Stephen Curry still playing at an NBA level and the Warriors also trying to integrate newer faces like Jonathan Kuminga into the mix, Paul figures to provide solid veteran leadership to the Golden State locker room as they try to once again reach the NBA mountaintop.

The Warriors and Suns are slated to tip off at 10:00 PM ET from the Chase Center in San Francisco for Paul's debut in his new threads.
