San Francisco, CA – Lately, the Golden State Warriors have struggled with closing games. It's cost them a few wins in the second half of the season. Golden State coach Steve Kerr told the media that late-game situations were an emphasis in practice Tuesday.

The future Hall of Fame coach wouldn't reveal what about late-game situations he wanted to work on, but veteran guard Damion Lee spilled the beans.

He told the secret while channeling his inner Russell Westbrook.

“Did you see that interview like nine years ago when all Westbrook said was good execution? Yeah, that's what we're trying to get, just good execution,” Lee told ClutchPoints.

Lee made this fitting comment a few days before their next game, which will be against Westbrook and the Los Angeles Lakers. It will be their final meeting of the season.

Both teams need wins on Thursday for two different reasons. The Lakers need the victory to stay in the running to make the play-in tournament, and the Warriors need the win to get home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The Warriors will enter the game with a 50-29 overall record. They lead the Dallas Mavericks by one game for the 3 seed in the Western Conference. There are only three games left so each one is important. Golden State is three games ahead of the Denver Nuggets as well, who would need catch them in order to push the Warriors out of home court in the first round.

The remaining teams on the 2021-22 schedule are the Lakers, the San Antonio Spurs, and New Orleans Pelicans.

The Warriors have already secured at least a top 6 seed in the playoffs, and it's their first time returning to postseason play since the 2019 season.
