Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed to local reporters on Wednesday that starting center DeMarcus Cousins is onto the next phase of his recovery.

Cousins has played in 11 games this season for the Warriors. He missed the first 45 games while recovering from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered last season with the New Orleans Pelicans.

DeMarcus Cousins is averaging 13.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists in the 11 games he's played in. The four-time All-Star is shooting 42.4 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from beyond the arc and 73.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Golden State is 10-1 with Cousins in the lineup and 41-16 overall on the season, propelling them to the top of the Western Conference standings.

The most minutes Cousins has played since returning to game action is 28 minutes. That was against the Utah Jazz on Feb. 12, the last game before the All-Star break. The Warriors will still be cautious with Boogie, but it looks like they are going to increase his workload moving forward.

Cousins has never played in the postseason. However, that will change this year and you can imagine just how excited the 28-year-old is to compete for a championship. The Warriors are looking to win their third straight championship and fourth in five years.
