Draymond Green followed the footsteps of Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr when asked for his thoughts on the feud between the NBA and the Chinese government, claiming he's still hoping to educate himself on China's situation before commenting on the matter.

On Tuesday, the Warriors coach declined to comment, telling reporters he wanted to read more into the situation before speaking about what's taking place and hoping not to speak out of place. Green echoed that same sentiment:

“To comment on it I have to really understand it,” said Green. “At this point, I'm just trying to educate myself more in all of it, even the initial [Daryl Morey] tweet that started this uproar. I don't really understand what's going on in Hong Kong or China.

“It's hard enough trying to understand politics in America for me. I'm not knowledgeable enough to say much, unless I just want to talk to talk — and I don't ever do that.”

To admit ignorance is noble, and quite frankly refreshing in the wake of so many reactionary and a**-pulling hot takes about what a player, executive, or commissioner should say about another nation's problems.

Morey's pro-Hong Kong tweet started a feud after the Chinese government and its biggest basketball broadcaster, CCTV, put Adam Silver in a pick-your-side position, making him choose between defending Morey for expressing his thoughts or apologizing to the Chinese government for what they view as sheer blasphemy of foreign affairs.

While Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, Morey, and even star player James Harden quickly retreated to apologize at the wake of losing several sponsors, the NBA has since stood with Morey's right to freedom of speech at the wake of heavy criticism from U.S. senators and several others who thought the NBA was kowtowing to China.

Kerr drew criticism for not having an opinion on this matter, given his constant talks about American politics — though the coach as well as Green are canny enough to admit they have some reading up to do before giving an intelligent response.
