Despite a recent 92-88 loss to the streaky Boston Celtics during a Thursday night doubleheader, the Golden State Warriors are still a heavy favorite to repeat as NBA champions.

According to ESPN, a panel of experts voted on potential teams that could walk away with the Larry O'Brien trophy at the end of the 2017-18, with 79 percent of votes going toward the defending champions.

Golden State has gotten off to an 11-4 start to the season and are yet to lose more than one game in a row in the young season, while other hopefuls for the NBA crown like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the San Antonio Spurs have lost four in a row at some point in the early get-go.

The Warriors have historically been able to bounce back immediately from bad performances, boasting a level-headed leadership style stemming from head coach Steve Kerr — perhaps the most underrated aspect of a star-studded team.

While Golden State has lost to two title-aspiring teams in the Houston Rockets and the Celtics, not many give these teams a chance to beat them in a best-of-seven series, proving a puzzle yet to solve since Kevin Durant joined the fold in the offseason of 2016.

Prior to a loss to the Celtics, the Warriors had been blowing teams out during a seven-game win streak by a margin of 19.9 points per game — a scary thought, considering they played the toughest schedule out of any team in the first 14 games of the season.
