Stephen Curry could very well take the floor for Game 1 of the Golden State Warriors' first-round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. If the three-time champion is able to play, though, it seems increasingly likely he'll do so without much ramp-up whatsoever.

The Warriors provided an update on Curry's status Tuesday, acknowledging improvement in his recovery from an injured left foot but stopping short of clarifying his status for their playoff opener on Saturday.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who missed the team’s last 12 regular season games after suffering a sprained ligament and bone bruise in his left foot on March 16 against the Boston Celtics, continues to make good progress in his recovery process. He gradually started various individual on-court activities last week (shooting, running) and may return to full team practices at some point this week. His eventual return to game action—and the possibility of playing this weekend—is undetermined and will be based on his continued progress.

Curry hasn't played since March 16th against the Boston Celtics, when his left foot bent awkwardly under the weight of a diving Marcus Smart. Though there was initial optimism he'd be able to come back before the end of the regular season, Golden State announced last week that his absence would extend past April 10th.

An early favorite for league MVP this season, Curry's shooting numbers tailed off after a scorching hot start. The Warriors lost six of their first seven games once he went down in mid-March, but closed the regular season on a five-game win streak to get some much-needed momentum heading into their first-round series against presumptive back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

Golden State and Denver are set to tip off Game 1 at 5:30 p.m. (PST) on Saturday.
