Is Porter Jr. playing vs Lakers?

The 6-8 stretch forward has been dealing with a back injury for a few weeks now. He missed the Warriors previous game against the Knicks, which they lost 116-114. It was a hard-fought game and the Dubs could have certainly used his services.

Rookie lottery pick Jonathan Kuminga filled in for the injured veteran and had a solid game. He finished the night with 17 points and 5 rebounds. The only problem is the youngster had the assignment of guarding Julius Randle, who is a handful for anybody in the league. He scored 28 points, added 16 rebounds and 7 assists.

Randle and the Knicks dominated the pace and the glass, and Porter Jr. could have helped in those areas if he played. The Warriors were outrebounded 51-38. I'm not saying if the sharpshooting forward played the numbers would have changed, but in games like this, you need all hands on deck.

This season, Porter Jr. is averaging 8.5 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and shooting just under 40 percent from three-point range.

This is the healthiest Porter Jr. has been in years. He's appeared in 45 games this season and started 13 of those games. That's three more games than his last two seasons combined. Saturday against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, according to the scouting report he is expected to play his 46th game. It will be his third game in the team's last seven, so we will have to keep an eye on how things go.
