The Golden State Warriors will be without their prized rookie for at least the next week with James Wiseman recently diagnosed with a sprained wrist. According to reports, the second overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft will be out of action for at least the next seven to 10 days.

This comes via Anthony Slater of The Athletic:

To be clear, this does not mean that Wiseman will be back in seven to 10 days. The 19-year-old will be re-evaluated after the aforementioned period, which points to the possibility of Wiseman missing even more time. How much time the former Memphis standout ends up missing will likely be determined by the results of the said evaluation.

After serving as the Warriors' starting center for the most part of the season, Wiseman was recently demoted to the second unit by Dubs head coach Steve Kerr. This resulted in a dip in minutes for the 7-foot center, who has averaged just 19.0 minutes per contest over the past four games. Wiseman was playing 21.4 minutes per game prior to the move to the bench. 6-foot-9 big man Kevon Looney has taken over Wiseman's spot in the starting unit, and the 24-year-old will now be asked to play a bigger role in the rotation sans Wiseman.

In 20 games played this season, Wiseman has averaged 12.2 points (on 50.0 percent shooting), 6.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 21.0 minutes per game. There's no denying that he has shown some flashes of brilliance early in his young NBA career, but he hasn't exactly been able to live up to the lofty expectations most had on him prior to the start of the season.
