Kevin Durant does not believe Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr's comments about his Twitter habits are indicative of his work ethic or mental makeup.

Kerr had previously made comments regarding Durant's tendency to reach for the cell phone in his third and final season with the Warriors. More details have since emerged this week after Can't Knock The Hustle author Matt Sullivan appeared on the Dan Le Betard & Stugotz podcast.

One such Twitter user claimed Durant needed to “touch grass” after including a screenshot of some of the information divulged during Sullivan's interview with Le Betard.

Durant responded in kind. The former MVP said he doesn't see an issue with his desire to engage with basketball fans, also stating that engagement did not detract from his game on the floor when he was still a member of the Warriors:

“I don’t see a problem with me interacting with basketball fans, it should be encouraged…steve should’ve also said that I’m never late and I work through every rep in practice with game speed. That should be more interesting than what I do on Twitter,” Durant tweeted.

Sullivan himself actually chimed in with an excerpt from the book in which Kerr appeared to applaud Durant for handling the “backlash.”

Regardless, Durant's Twitter presence isn't going away. As he has stated, it doesn't impact his play, either. That includes the final season with the Warriors.

It's easy to forget Durant had dominated the 2019 playoffs before suffering the initial calf strain and, later the Achilles injury. He was the anchor for the Warriors as they faced a surprisingly tough challenge against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round, then performed at a high level against the Houston Rockets before getting injured.

Basketball fans might question the Twitter methods, but they cannot question the brilliance Durant continues to display whenever he is on the floor.
