SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson made his triumphant return on Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he made his presence felt immediately. He started the game by scoring on his team's first field goal attempt. Then, shortly after, he surprised everyone with a poster slam on multiple Cavs big men.

“I just saw the rim. Luckily for me, I threw it down with authority, and I felt really good. I felt really good. Really good,” Thompson told ClutchPoints.

The highlight even surprised the Warriors sharpshooter, who said he hasn't dunked in a scrimmage yet.

“Knowing I can still do that? Not just being able to get to my spots, and rise up, and shoot. It's only up from here,” Thompson told the media.

Thompson was extremely aggressive from start to finish. The Warriors star ended the game shooting 7-of-18 from the field and finished with 17 points. It was a picture-perfect debut for Thompson. The crowd roared every time he scored the basket and fired him up.

Thompson, who usually is a quiet person, wore his emotions on his sleeve in this game. After knocking down a 3 and forcing a timeout, Thompson went to the crowd before heading to the bench and let out a roar to show his appreciation to the fans, who've been patiently waiting for his return.

It was Thompson's first game inside the Chase Center and he walked away with a 96-82 victory. Stephen Curry had a game-high 28 points, while Kevon Looney had a career-high 18 rebounds.

Thompson didn't think he played great, but he didn't care. The Warriors got the win and he had just played in his first game in over 900 days.
