Golden State Warriors All-Star Draymond Green is set to be presented with one of the highest honors a collegiate player can receive, as Michigan State is planning to retire his No. 23 Spartans jersey.

Spartans head coach Tom Izzo revealed that Michigan State will hang Green's jersey from the rafters inside the Breslin Student Events Center on Dec. 3, when MSU faces off against the Duke Blue Devils:

Several gifted players have worn the green and white at Michigan State, including Magic Johnson and Mateen Cleaves. Draymond Green, who was a consensus First-team All-American and Big 10 Player of the Year in 2012, can be counted among these legends in school history.

Green led MSU to the Big 10 title as a senior, earning conference player of the year honors. While Green slipped into the second round because there were concerns about his size, his versatility was fully on display in college. He had three triple-doubles at MSU, ranking second in school history only to Magic Johnson. Green is also one of only three players in school history with over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Success followed Green to the NBA. The Saginaw native went on to become a crucial piece of one of the best teams in league history — a Golden State Warriors team that made five consecutive trips to the Finals, winning three.

Join us in congratulating Draymond Green for this distinct honor.
