When Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob said the Dubs were “light years ahead” of the competition, he got a lot of flak for it.

Over the last five years, the Warriors have been to five straight Finals, winning three championships and losing two.

However, now that Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala are gone and Klay Thompson will miss a big chunk of the 2019-20 season with an ACL injury, the Warriors look like a regular team again.

Golden State has gotten blown out in its first two games of the season, losing to the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder.

“When we won the championship, I told Bob (Myers) right afterwards, ‘We've got to get better.' I always say that. That's how you keep going. People think I'm being egotistical or arrogant. I'm not. I'm really being honest,” Lacob told Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

“You have to continue to strive as an organization, both on the basketball side and the business side, to continually improve, because your competition is certainly trying to do the same thing.

“The rest of the league is going to catch us at some point.”

It has only been two games, but there are many pundits around the league who believe the Warriors are going to miss the playoffs this season. There two best offensive players, Stephen Curry and D'Angelo Russell, are poor defenders and Draymond Green doesn't have enough offensive power.

It remains to be seen how Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will adapt this season. One thing we do know is that the days of the Dubs cruising through the regular season are over.
