The Golden State Warriors bid adieu to Oracle Arena this past season after multiple decades in Oakland, and they will begin a new chapter at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Warriors point guard Stephen Curry got his first glimpse of the arena on Sunday when he made a special guest appearance for an event hosted by Girls Inc. Curry told Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic that the finished product was something to behold:
“Three or four months ago, obviously, it was a skeleton,” Curry said Wednesday. “The rows and the layout were straight, but I couldn’t tell the finished product. Today was where it became real in terms of this is where the new home is. Pretty special.”
Curry, who has already moved across the Bay to be closer to the arena, was impressed by his new digs. He said he especially liked the “player campus.” At Chase Center, all of the Warriors’ operations will be in one place. And the synchronicity of the players’ setup stood out to Curry.
“Just the flow of everything and the attention to detail on a lot of stuff,” Curry said. “Obviously, being at Oracle … and having a vision of what a new building could look like and everything you could need. A lot of boxes checked on that front, for sure.”
Perhaps it is fitting that the Warriors are preparing to experience a new city and a new environment in what is going to be a transitory season.
For the first time in three years, Golden State will take the floor without Kevin Durant, and D'Angelo Russell will slot in at shooting guard for the injured Klay Thompson.
The onus will once again be on Curry to deliver superstar performances.
