NBA players past and present have successfully transitioned from making dazzling plays on the hardwood to going behind the mic for their own podcasts. Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will be the next basketball great to make the jump to creating a podcast with father Dell Curry.

While certain players have taken to the mic to talk about the Xs and Os of basketball or share random anecdotes beyond the game, the upcoming podcast is shaping up to be an interesting storytelling session that will not only peer into the Curry family history, but also pieces of NBA history as well.

The Curry father-and-son tandem are set to co-host Heat Check, which will debut June 13, according to Andscape and ESPN senior writer Marc Spears. The podcast will take a deep look back at the Curry family journey via the perspective of Stephen and Dell Curry, with the duo discussing certain legendary names in NBA history along the way.

Dell Curry had a fruitful 16-year NBA career that featured stops with the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors. He has served as color commentator for the Hornets since the 2009-10 season.

Stephen Curry, on the other hand, just completed his 15th season in Golden State, where he has won four NBA championships and two MVPs. He was named Third Team All-NBA after the 2023-24 season, the 10th All-NBA selection of his illustrious career.

Certain fans took to social media and positively reacted to the announcement of the Heat Check podcast, giving rave reviews including a forecast that it would become β€œthe best podcast in sports.” However, some fans made pointed remarks at the notion that Stephen's younger brother, Hornets guard Seth Curry, was left off the podcast.

One fan used a SpongeBob Squarepants meme to point out the younger Curry brother being excluded from the podcast, while another used a Conan O'Brien GIF to illustrate how Seth would look into the podcast studio from the outside.

Curry family tandem joins long list of current, former NBA players with podcasts

Stephen and Dell Curry may well be the first father-son NBA duo to start a podcast together, but they follow a long line of past and present players to have started podcasts. Stephen's teammate, Draymond Green, has made a hit out of The Draymond Green Show. Outspoken Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley is hosting The Pat Bev Pod. Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George is running Podcast P presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, while LeBron James is co-hosting Mind the Game with former NBA sharpshooter and Los Angeles Lakers head coach candidate JJ Redick.

Redick also leads the list of former players with podcasts with The Old Man and the Three. The duo of Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes is co-hosting the All the Smoke podcast. Andre Iguodala, who played with Curry and Green on all four of Golden State's recent title runs, is co-hosting the Point Forward podcast.
