Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, regarded as the greatest shooter of all-time, gave a shoutout to Reggie Miller and Ray Allen—the two greats that came before him.
In the Warriors' win over the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, Curry became just the third player to knock down 2,500 career 3-pointers. Miller, one of the players who reached the milestone, congratulated Curry. He even expressed his belief that the Dubs' sharpshooter will take over the No.1 spot from Ray Allen in the near future.
Curry replied to Miller's tweet on Monday, admitting that both Miller and Allen are his role models.
Ray Allen holds the record for most career 3-pointers with 2,973. Reggie Miller is second with 2,560. Currently, after Sunday's game, Stephen Curry has 2,504 career 3-pointers.
As Miller noted, Steph will likely surpass him this season if everything goes well for him and the Warriors.
Despite this, both Miller and Allen have remained classy towards Curry. Allen, in an interview with Abe Schwadron of Slam Magazine in 2016, even said that the Warriors superstar is in a class of his own.
“Based on what he’s done, I think he has to be—he’s on his way to being the best ever. It’s always arguable, based on who’s telling the story. One thing I always tell people is, it’s hard to compare generations. Everybody has something or somebody that makes him feel special about the game, or the way they saw and the way they appreciate the game. I’ve sat back and watched a lot, and listened to a lot of people talk. He’s creating a lane all of his own. People comparing him to me, to Reggie [Miller]. But I think Steph is in a category of his own.”
Whether a Curry-hater or a die-hard fan, everyone can agree that Steph has changed the way the game is being played. And it's a treat to still see him at the prime of his career with the Warriors.
