Stephen Curry is one of the greatest basketball players on the planet. But the Golden State Warriors star's biggest contribution this offseason wasn't NBA related.

The Warriors icon, alongside his wife Ayesha, stepped up to the plate and launched an initiative to support women's athletics at Steph's alma mater of Davidson. The couple just started a scholarship fund to help female athletes get support for their education, with hopes of igniting support from other donors as well.

“The reason I am who I am today is also because of strong, powerful women who have poured into my life all these years,” the Warriors star in an Instagram video post. “Now, as the father of two girls I want them to grow up without any boundaries on their futures.”

According to ABC News' Tory Barron, Davidson has roughly 26 scholarships provided for women, with half of those going to the basketball program. Those numbers are reportedly a far cry from those of the teams within their same conference. With the latest venture started by the Curry family, that number has nowhere to go but up.

Both Davidson and the Golden State Warriors put their faith in Stephen Curry when he was an underdog, and he's now endlessly repaying their belief in him.
