Draymond Green and Steve Kerr have come a long way. From barking at each other back and forth on the bench and having an enthused argument in the visitor's locker room to being in the same room for Green's jersey retirement at Michigan State.

The Golden State Warriors head coach admits he's learned to bond with Green over the things they have in common, including their temper.

“We are equally as competitive and we are equally as likely to blow up,” Steve Kerr explained to Logan Murdock and Kerith Burke of NBC Sports Bay Area in their ‘Runnin' Plays' podcast. “Either one of us will snap — he'll get a “T” (technical foul), I'll break a clipboard. It's just the way we're built. That's how much it means to us.

Kerr then went into full anecdote mode to further reveal a lesser-known part of his character:

“My family would tell you a story — when I was about six years old, we had an Easter egg hunt at my cousin's house. They had all the eggs laid out and they had one big golden egg that was the big prize. I didn't find it, and when I saw somebody else found it … I lost it. I completely lost it — crying. My poor mom and dad, they were so embarrassed.

“And this kind of stuff used to happen all the time. If I didn't do well in sports … pitching, if I gave up a hit, I'd throw my glove on the ground. I would snap.

“That's how Draymond is, right? We bonded over our ability to snap.”

Draymond Green has become an extension of Kerr on the court, keeping his teammates accountable and providing the energy and communication that made the Warriors a juggernaut for the past five seasons. While it's a different story now with plenty of young and new faces, Green and Kerr are still bonded by that competitive fire that has made them winners over the course of their respective careers.
