Despite being cleared to play in Game 1, Gary Payton II did not leave the bench for the Golden State Warriors as they suffered a shocking 120-108 loss at the hands of the Boston Celtics. At this point, however, it seems that Payton should be able to help his team in Game 2.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr all but confirmed Payton's availability for Game 2. According to the three-time NBA champion coach, he expects a bigger role for GP2 on Sunday:
“I anticipate that he will be available for more than that tomorrow, because the last couple of days have gone pretty well and he's feeling better,” Kerr said, via Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports.

That's great news for the Warriors. Stephen Curry himself recently talked up Payton's key role for the squad in the Celtics series, particularly when it comes to defending their key guys. It now sounds like the Dubs are heading into Game 2 under the belief that GP2 will be part of the rotation.
It is worth noting, however, that the official injury report has Payton tagged as questionable. GP2's final status should be confirmed towards tip-off.
