The Golden State Warriors are about to get a huge boost for Game 2 against the Boston Celtics on Sunday night with reports emerging about Gary Payton II's possible availability for the matchup. Stephen Curry confirmed that Payton is indeed “available” and the Dubs superstar can't wait to get his teammate back.

After missing several weeks due to an elbow injury, Payton now appears set to return to action in Game 2. Curry knows how important GP2 is going to be in this series and the greatest shooter of all time talked up his teammate's role for the team against this relentless Celtics side:

“He's just a defensive menace in terms of being able to guard a lot of different positions,” Curry said, via NBA on Twitter. “He gets into the ball, makes people uncomfortable. He can disrupt a lot of different actions and different situations out there. He has a knack on the offensive end of being at the right place and the right time. He gives us great energy. So the fact that he's available is big just because of what he's been through these last three, four weeks.”

Payton himself earlier made a plea to Warriors coach Steve Kerr about his availability for Game 2. Curry's advice for Payton is just to be prepared for anything:

“The fact that he's available, I know he has to be ready,” Curry continued, “because his number can be called at any moment, and he has to go be the GP that we know him to be. He can affect this series that same way. Guarding Jaylen, guarding Jayson, Marcus — whoever he's asked to guard, and giving us a huge boost of energy because that's what he does.”
