Las Vegas Aces star and former No. 1 overall pick Angel McCoughtry ripped Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green regarding some recent comments Green made about the pay gap.
Green previously went on a strange Twitter rant in which he advocated for better pay for female athletes while simultaneously criticizing WNBA players for not branding themselves.
You make those that say they stand for women actually stand up. The NBA wasn’t always the global game that it is today. It wasn’t always driving as much revenue as it does today. But there were people behind it, building the platform, and more importantly telling INDIVIDUAL…

stories and building up the interest in the players. That’s how the game took off. Who’s building up y’all platform? Who’s telling the individual stories of how great y’all are? Building the interest and transforming women’s basketball into a global game?

The business. Stop allowing them to yell women empowerment for the look. No company grows without funding. Y’all business can grow with the proper funding and story telling. Make these huge companies commit money to y’all cause. That’s empowering! Or don’t yell women empowerment

McCoughtry responded with some scathing comments Thursday during a USA Basketball press conference, suggesting Green has not taken the time to become educated:
“Draymond, have you done your research?! Have you asked us questions,” McCoughtry said, via TMZ. “Don't you think we've tried to do that kind of stuff?! No, he hasn't done his research! That's my only thing with Draymond!”
“We want to get our stories out,” McCoughtry said, via TMZ. “I created a TV show about these kinds of issues, its a dramatic comedy called ‘Fair Game.' I've gone to Springhill Entertainment, I've gone to Sony where Steph Curry's people are. We got turned down! ‘Oh, we don't want a show about the WNBA.'”
McCoughtry iterated she was pleased Green attempted to bring some of the equal pay issues to the forefront. However, she is also imploring the former NBA Defensive Player of the Year to actually speak with women in order to better understand barriers to entry.
