After missing substantial time in the playoffs due to an elbow injury from a dirty Dillon Brooks foul, Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II finally returned to the fold and got some minutes on Sunday in a big 19-point win over the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals. It was a refreshing sight for not only the Dubs but for GP2's dad, Hall of Famer Gary Payton, to see his son playing on the biggest stage in basketball.

If you weren't convinced of how proud Payton is, just take a look at this awesome shirt he wore on the pregame broadcast where GP2 is guarding him:

Now that's absolutely heartwarming. GP2 has finally found a home on the Warriors after countless years of roaming around the league on 10-day deals and two-way contracts. Now, Payton is thriving with Golden State, serving as a defensive linchpin for this team all season long.

Gary Payton II played 25 minutes on Sunday night, contributing seven points, three assists, and three rebounds. He's not exactly known for his offensive brilliance, but just like his father, GP2 plays lockdown defense. I guess it runs in the family.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday night in Boston as the Warriors look to take a 2-1 lead. Payton II should once again play a key part in the rotation.
