Washington Football Team quarterback Dwayne Haskins understands he has to be better if the team hopes to make strides this season.

Head coach Ron Rivera is pushing Haskins to be more accountable in proving he can be the starting quarterback, and the second-year man out of Ohio State indicated he is willing to make the effort to improve:

“In all honesty, I know I can be better,” Washington Football QB Dwayne Haskins said, via Les Carpenter of the Washington Post. “I have to be better for this offense. In order for that to happen, I have to put the work in. Everyone can sit there and feel sorry for yourself or have a pity party or blame other external factors for why it is what it is. But I really preached this offseason being self-aware and understanding of your mistakes and understand how you can progress and get better for yourself.”

“I just want to be better at everything,” Haskins said. “I’m still young, I can’t just sit here and act like I arrived or I made it.”

Haskins was open about the work he was putting in during the offseason, working out with everyone from Antonio Brown to Deion Sanders. But the offseason work has not paid dividends early in the year.

Haskins is completing just 56.4 percent of his passes through the first three weeks, and he threw three interceptions in a loss to the Cleveland Browns last weekend.

Granted, Washington Football did not do a whole lot to surround Haskins with depth at the skill positions in the offseason. However, the 23-year-old is not taking a “woe is me” attitude as he hopes to lead the team forward.

Haskins, leading the still without a nickname Washington Football Team, will be eager to prove his worth against a tough Baltimore Ravens defense in Week 4.
