Washington State University head coach Nick Rolovich has been open during his media availability this offseason about not getting the vaccine. While he hasn't stated reasons as to why he won't or hasn't gotten it, he's stated on multiple occasions that he is indeed not vaccinated.

Governor Jay Inslee of the state of Washington announced new Covid-19 vaccination requirements on Wednesday and under those new polices, the Washington State coach would be required to get the vaccine.

The pressure will now be dialed up on Rolovich and others in the state to get the vaccine or it sounds like, risk losing their job. Rolovich came to Washington State University in 2020 after being the head coach at Hawaii from 2016-2019. It was just back in July that, via The Athletic, Rolovich mentioned not being vaccinated during Pac-12 media day.

“I don’t mean to cause any heartache to this university or to this athletic department or this state,” Rolovich said at the time. “As I go forward, I plan on adhering to all policies that are implemented for the unvaccinated at the state, local, campus and conference level.”

After Governor Inslee issued his update, the Washington State athletic department released their own statement.

“Washington State Athletics, including staff, coaches and student-athletes, will continue to follow all campus, local, state, Pac-12 and NCAA guidelines related to health and safety surrounding COVID-19 and we will work to ensure the mandates in the Governor's Proclamation are followed.”

There will certainly be varying opinions on this but it sure seems like the waiting game has now begun for Nick Rolovich.
