While Dave Joerger was fired by the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday, it wasn't for the reasons you'd expect.

Coaches are normally fired for underwhelming results or clashes with higher-ups within the organization. However, Joerger's case is a little bit different—he was fired because he was seeking permission to speak with other teams about their vacancies:

Despite the fact Joerger had led the Grizzlies to playoff berths in all three of his seasons as head coach, it would appear he wasn't happy with the organization. He was making roughly $2 million in salary per year with Memphis and didn't feel as if his voice was strong enough within the franchise.

In an odd turn of events, all sources seem to indicate Joerger was ready to move on from the Grizzlies, rather than the other way around.
