The Dallas Wings take on the Minnesota Lynx. Check out our WNBA odds series for our Wings Lynx prediction, odds, and pick. Find out how to watch Wings Lynx.

The Minnesota Lynx are in third place in the WNBA standings, behind the two-loss New York Liberty and the one-loss Connecticut Sun. Are they a legitimate title contender? Right now, they appear to be, but until we get to the WNBA semifinals a few months from now, there will be questions about this team's ability to rise to the top. The Lynx did push the Sun to the limit in a one-point overtime loss on the road. They did beat the Liberty earlier this season. Yet, if you saw the Liberty defeat the Las Vegas Aces this past weekend, and if you have followed Connecticut's steady stream of strong performances, you will admit that the Lynx have to clear a high bar to match the standard set by New York and Connecticut. This doesn't even include the other key need for the Lynx: fending off the Seattle Storm, the aforementioned Aces, and also the Phoenix Mercury.

The Lynx are coming off a win, but it was a shaky win. The Lynx fell behind the Los Angeles Sparks by a double-digit margin at home. They trailed by five at halftime and were leading by three in the final half-minute before surviving by five points, 81-76. Skeptics of the Lynx will point to a game like that and say that Minnesota's hot start might not be sustained. It's up to the Lynx to prove skeptics wrong and repeatedly show that it is ready to confront the WNBA's best in the postseason.

The Dallas Wings are in trouble. They were 3-2 through five games. They nearly beat the Connecticut Sun on the road (they led by three points with under three minutes left in regulation). They showed a lot of promise in the first three weeks of the season. It has all gone horribly wrong since then. The Wings have lost seven straight to fall to 3-9, the second-worst record in the WNBA ahead of only 2-12 Washington. Dallas got thrashed by Connecticut this past Saturday at home. Losing was expected; the Sun have just one loss and are a really good team. However, the game was not competitive in the fourth quarter. Dallas lost 85-67, a sign of a team which might be losing the belief needed to compete at an elite level. This game in Minnesota is a huge test for this group.

Why The Wings Could Cover The Spread

The Wings are desperate. They know they need to put an end to this seven-game losing streak. They might lose straight up, but they are going to play hard enough to cover the spread. Keep in mind that the Lynx did not cover the spread at home versus the Los Angeles Sparks in their most recent game on Friday night. Minnesota fell behind by 10 points in the first quarter and played a bad first half. A repeat performance would enable Dallas to cover the spread fairly comfortably.

Why The Lynx Could Cover The Spread

The key point to make about the Lynx is that they do respond well to mediocre or bad performances. They lost to the Phoenix Mercury over a week ago and then pounded the Seattle Storm in their next game. The Lynx did not play well against Los Angeles on Friday, even though they won the game. Expect Minnesota to start strong and get on top of this game.

Final Wings-Lynx Prediction & Pick

The Lynx are really good. Dallas is a mess. Take Minnesota. Added note: You might want to take the Lynx on a first-quarter or first-half spread, given that Minnesota is unlikely to play a bad first quarter in two straight home games (following Friday's terrible first quarter versus Los Angeles).

Final Wings-Lynx Prediction & Pick: Lynx -9
