Johnny Davis made a strong claim for one of the very best college basketball players this season. In his second year with the Wisconsin Badgers, he won the Big Ten Conference Player of the Year and got buckets on everyone. Now, he's moving on to bigger ambitions.

Davis said to ESPN that he is declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft. The Wisconsin star said that the team that drafts him is getting a player that wants to be the very best one out there.

“With so many great teams and players in our league, it was obviously a huge honor to win Big Ten player of the year, but winning the Big Ten regular season title and playing in the NCAA tournament was so much sweeter. I would like to think NBA teams saw a player who is tough, who competes on both ends of the court every single possession and who will do whatever it takes to help my team win. Every time I step on the floor, I want to be the best player.”

Davis showed in the NCAA Tournament that he shines with the empowerment of his Wisconsin coaches and teammates. Finding a similarly supportive team at the next level will be huge for him.

In 31 games, Davis averaged 19.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while shooting 42.7 percent from the field. Although he isn't one of the very best athletes, he could be among the best scorers in his draft class.
