John Wall recently got candid about the surprising trade that led to his departure from the Washington Wizards this past offseason. While speaking about the trade, Wall revealed that he was disappointed that the Wizards didn't give him another chance to win with Bradley Beal.

“The number one goal is, you didn’t give me the opportunity for me and Brad to run it back, like y’all said we (would),” the former Wizards star said, via The Athletic's Fred Katz. “That was (my) and our ultimate goal. It was, ‘OK, we’re gonna give it one more shot.’ If it’s just one year or two years, we were gonna give it one more shot just to see. … And it’s just crazy we never got to do that. I don’t think they wanted to do that. I think they moved forward and did whatever they wanted, which is cool. But that was the most frustrating thing than anything. Like, to have an opportunity to run it back with my brother and playing with the guy, the level he’s on now.”

Before getting dealt to the Houston Rockets, Wall hadn't played in an NBA game since December 26 of the 2018-2019 season. The veteran point guard experienced a myriad of injuries in the two Washington campaigns leading up to this season, including an Achilles ailment.

Given that, the Wizards seemingly thought Wall wasn't the same player anymore as they decided to swap him for Russell Westbrook. As a result, while Wall is proving he can still play at a high level, the Wizards have a putrid 6-17 record, which is the worst record in the Eastern Conference. The fact that Russell Westbrook has been the one struggling only adds salt into those Wall-shaped wounds.

On the other hand, Beal is playing at an elite level, leading the league with 32.8 points per game. Of all of the things that Wall regrets about the end of his time with Washington, the Wizards not letting him run it back with Beal one more time bothers him.
