The Washington Wizards have been dealing with a bad COVID-19 outbreak lately. Wizards' COVID situation aside, the team was set to have forward Rui Hachimura, who has yet to play this season due to personal reasons. However, Hachimura hit an unfortunate setback right before making his debut.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnaroski reports that Rui Hachimura is entering the league's health and safety protocols. Hachimura becomes the eighth Wizards player to enter the COVID protocols. with center Montrezl Harrell entering earlier Tuesday.

This one particularly hurts for Wizards fans, as Hachimura was reportedly going to be available for Tuesday's game against the Miami Heat. Hachimura was working on his conditioning, so he might not have been able to play a full complement of minutes.

However, given how bad the Wizards' COVID situation is, it would have been nice to have Hachimura back in the rotation, even as a part-time player.

Now, the Wizards will have to navigate the next few games without the services of Hachimura. The Gonzaga product has averaged 13.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 47.3 percent from the field in two seasons since being drafted with the ninth pick in the 2019 draft by Washington.

Fans will hope that Rui Hachimura can clear the protocols soon, as the Wizards will need all the help they can get amid a COVID outbreak.
