Is this reality? Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook just called game over the Los Angeles Lakers. The former MVP slithered his way past LeBron James himself to score the game-winning bucket plus the foul and seal the overtime win, 127-124.

The Wizards are now on a scorching hot 5-game win streak, with massive victories over legitimate playoff contenders. They started off with an improbable win over the Boston Celtics, holding Jayson Tatum to just six points in the contest. Then settled a grudge match over their offseason trade parter, the Houston Rockets. Westbrook made his first appearance on both nights of a back-to-back to send former franchise star John Wall home with a loss.

But the Wizards really started to turn heads after their wins over the Denver Nuggets and the Portland Trail Blazers, two playoff teams that have established themselves as legitimate threats to take the West.

But Monday night's contest against the Los Angeles Lakers might make believers out of even the most pessimistic of Wizards fans. The Lakers were up 17 points in the third quarter, and had every counter punch during the closing stretches to keep the game from going Washington's way. But somehow, thanks to Bradley Beal's heroics and Russell Westbrook's late-game aggressiveness, they still pulled off the overtime win over the defending champions.

The Wizards now find themselves just two games out of the 8th seed after a putrid start to the season.

LeBron James and the Lakers have are slowly slipping towards the other direction. They've been sent spiraling into a three-game losing streak and have been sorely missing All-NBA big man Anthony Davis. With Dennis Schroder also out for the past couple of games, it's been a heavy burden on LeBron to carry the load. Losing a close one in overtime certainly doesn't make his tired legs feel any better.
