The Washington Wizards are currently figuring out how to fill out the rest of their roster. It appears they are looking to acquire veterans on the free agent market.

According to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post, the Wizards are eyeing Jamal Crawford, Luc Mbah A Moute, Dante Cunningham, and Willie Reed. Additionally, Buckner reports that Washington is also interested in veteran point guard Ty Lawson.

But their interest in the veterans on the market indicate their willingness to give this roster a shot to compete in the Eastern Conference. With LeBron James' departure, the East has completely opened up.

The Wizards are in an odd position. They have a lot of money invested into three players—John Wall, Bradley Beal, and Otto Porter Jr. All three players are excellent, but are they good enough to knock off the likes of the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers? Probably not.

But they're going to give it their best shot.

Of the multiple guys that the Wizards are reportedly targeting, Crawford and Lawson are the best fits. Lawson provided decent minutes off the bench for Washington in the playoffs. Additionally, Crawford is the consummate professional. He's a veteran that can immediately provide a scoring touch off the bench.

Not to mention, Crawford's influence around the team may help repair a tumultuous locker room.

The Wizards are dealing with the recent loss of Mike Scott. He was a key player for Washington down the stretch of 2017-18. Mbah A Moute, Dante Cunningham, and Willie Reed are all replacements, albeit less effective ones.
