Washington Wizards head coach Wes Unseld Jr. is not even aware that his team just had its best start in 16 years.

The double overtime win over the Boston Celtics on Saturday saw the Wizards matching its own rare season stat–a 5-1 start. To put this into context, Washington last achieved the said feat during the 2005-06 NBA season.

At the time, Wes Unseld Jr. was already in the Wizards coaching staff, serving as an assistant coach. What's even more interesting, he admitted that he “didn't know” anything about it.

“That's actually a stat I didn't know,” Unseld Jr. said after Wizards' 115-112 win over the Celtics via NBC Sports. “It's great.”

For Unseld Jr., such impressive stats only prove him that the Wizards' “resilience” this season is certainly paying off.

“There's hopefully a lot of firsts this year,” he coach added. “There's certainly a lot of firsts for me. But once again, it just shows our resilience. I keep using that word, but it's who we are and who we have to be.”

Like Unseld Jr., three-time NBA All-Star Bradley Beal, who registered a game-high 36 points against the C's, is also optimistic about making “history” at Washington this season.

“I tell these guys all the time, they can be a part of a lot of history over here,” Beal revealed. “Just from the way we've been doing things to the opportunity we have to create and mold our culture. We always talk about what a culture is and I always emphasize at the beginning of the year, it's what we make it.”
