Monday was a day to forget for the Los Angeles Sparks. In addition to the team's defeat at the hands of the Connecticut Sun, rookie forward Cameron Brink suffered a scary injury while driving to the basket in the first quarter. Unable to walk on her own without limping, she ended up being carried to the locker room.

Many were concerned, Magic Johnson included. The Los Angeles Lakers legend reacted to Brink's ordeal with a post on X.

“Sending prayers up for Cameron Brink right now. Hoping that this is not a serious injury!” Johnson wrote, adding a prayer hand emoji.

It all happened with around six and a half minutes remaining in the opening period. Catching a pass near the logo, Brink decided to take it all the way herself. However, her left leg suddenly buckled during the drive, causing her to fall to the floor in pain.

Following the play, fears of a major injury lingered among WNBA fans. There's been no official diagnosis yet, and the basketball community currently awaits news of Brink's health. In the meantime, many others have also taken to social media to wish the forward well. Chicago Sky's Angel Reese — an opponent of Brinks since college — sent out a heartfelt message to her fellow WNBA rookie.

“Prayers for my sweet girl! @cameronbrink22,” Reese posted on X.

Of course, there was an outpour of support from the fans as well.

A player getting injured is definitely something that no one wants to see, especially when that player is dubbed a rising star. Coming off an impressive senior year with Stanford, Cameron Brink was selected as the number two overall pick in this year's WNBA Draft. She was the NCAA's leading shot-blocker last season, and it seems like her defensive prowess has been carried over to the pros.

Brink leads the Sparks in blocks with 2.5 per game, making her the third-best shot-blocker in the league behind Ezi Magbegor and A'ja Wilson. Through her first 14 outings with LA, she's averaged 8.1 points and 5.7 rebounds, in addition to being named a starter in all those games.

The forward was recently named to Team USA's 3×3 team for the Paris Olympics. Along with collegiate star Hailey Van Lith, Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard, and Cierra Burdick of Valencia Basket, Brink is set to represent her country once more. She was named MVP of the 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, where USA won the gold medal. Alongside Brink, Van Lith and Burdick were also present in that team.

However, her upcoming stint now remains uncertain until the Sparks give an update about the injury.
