WWE 2K22 will finally arrive in just a few more months after two years of development. However, new information about some development woes for the game that have been introduced by the recent waves of superstar releases from the sports entertainment company.

In an interview with Fightful Select, recently-released WWE superstars revealed the lengths that Visual Concepts went through for the game's realism. One of the former WWE superstars shared that he has been taken in for multiple sessions of motion capture scans, some of which were specifically for his tattoos. This lines up with the graphics we've seen so far from various trailers, including the most recent one – The Hit List Trailer.

However, this also highlights some of the problems that the development team has had because of these releases. They have committed resources – several sessions of motion capture scans – for wrestlers not appearing in the final game. We've also seen reports on how the recent releases have screwed up Visual Concepts' DLC release plans, as they are now apparently running dry for wrestlers to feature in these post-release content. The interview highlighted that there was originally a plan for WWE 2K22 to focus more on NXT, but with the number of releases from NXT's roster, that might have already been scrapped entirely.

Right now, there are only several dozens of wrestlers confirmed to be part of WWE 2K22‘s roster. It's also been confirmed that GM Mode will be returning in one form or another. Perhaps some other features we want to see would still make it to the final cut. We're looking forward to WWE 2K22‘s release in March 2022, and we do hope that Visual Concepts finally gets it right this time.
