Xander Schauffele is one of the best golfers in the world today. Only the seemingly indestructible Scottie Scheffler is ahead of Schauffele on the official world golf rankings. But don't tell that to the basketball legend and avid golfer Michael Jordan. The former Chicago Bulls superstar is known to play golf a lot, especially since he decided to hang his sneakers up for good.

Apparently, Jordan is good enough to beat Schauffele, who recently admitted to former pro Colt Knost that he got beat “straight up” by the six-time NBA champion.

Knost asked Schauffele if he had experienced playing against Jordan and Xander Schauffele initially seconded Knost's point about how hard it is to get into Jordan's head. After all, when it comes to trash-talking, there is arguably no one better than Jordan, who also has the trophies, the rings, and the accolades to back it all up. And for someone who played against many NBA greats, all of whom had targets on his back, during the cutthroat eras of the 1980s and 1990s, Jordan isn't going to be rattled by some trash talk from a guy almost a foot shorter than him.

And that turned out to be the case with Jordan and Schauffele.

“In the last three holes, yeah,” Schauffele told Knost about Jordan defeating him. “I pancaked him and on his stroke holes I started talking s**t to him. He got all quiet, focused and then birdied like 15-16, no strokes. I was like ‘alright.’”

Michael Jordan still has it, folks.

Jordan may no longer be able to take off free-throw lines for poster dunks and make tough fadeaways, but that legendary competitive fire inside him refuses to go away, and no one should be betting on it disappearing ever. When Jordan is locked in, he is locked in, and while there's no video of his win against Xander Schauffele, one can only imagine Jordan draining those putts like it's clutch time in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals and imagining Schauffele as Bryon Russell.

Again, Schauffele is a top-tier elite pro golfer, who just won his first-ever major title not too long ago. Schauffele topped the field at the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville last May before finishing with a T-8 last Sunday at the 2024 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

Schauffele didn't seem to be affected much by his loss to Jordan, plus he got a new fantastic story to tell — albeit at his expense.

Schauffele can forget about his debacle against the five-time NBA Most Valuable Player on the golf course and put all his focus on the upcoming 2024 US Open at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.
