Because he has continued to serve as an oft-injured player for the better part of his tenure in pinstripes, the power of New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is sometimes forgotten. However, Stanton tends to reappear from time to time, almost solely to remind the world just how strong he truly is.

With the Yankees already leading the rival Baltimore Orioles by the score of 2-0 on Monday evening, Stanton wasted absolutely no time in breaking the American League East clash open. Not only that, but the former Miami Marlins outfielder put New York up 6-0 in style as he destroyed a grand slam during the bottom half of the fifth inning.

With Orioles right-handed pitcher Shawn Armstrong on the mound and one strike against him, Giancarlo Stanton blasted a fastball right down the middle straight to the moon. According to the Yankees' broadcast, Stanton's latest long ball traveled a whopping 471 feet. Although this isn't tremendously surprising given the amount of moonshots that he has clocked as a big leaguer, it is always eye-popping to watch the ball connect with his bat before seemingly jumping over the fence.

After beginning his career as a National League outfielder with the aforementioned Marlins, Stanton now primarily serves as a designated hitter for the Yankees, who luckily play in the American League. Because he is able to focus solely on hitting these days, a healthy Stanton and a full regular season slate ahead could prove quite costly for opposing pitchers.

Unfortunately for Armstrong, though, his arm wasn't strong enough on Monday evening.
