New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is no stranger to the injured list, and he was placed on there due to a left quad strain prior to Monday's series opener against the Texas Rangers.

Stanton had already missed the previous three games with the injury. While he's currently just on the 10-day IL, the Yankees have to cross their fingers that this doesn't keep the star out longer than expected.

Stanton played just 23 games last season and 18 games in 2018 due to injuries. The 31-year-old did have a strong 2018 campaign, which was his first season in New York after he won an MVP with the Miami Marlins in 2017. The right-handed behemoth hit 59 home runs in that final Marlins season.

The designated hitter is off to a big start in 2021. He has already hit nine dingers and batted in 24 runs in 33 games. He has a battling slash line of .282/.347/.534.

In addition to Giancarlo Stanton's injury issues, Aaron Hicks was just put on the IL Sunday due to a wrist injury that could keep him out for a while. There's a chance the wrist injury will require surgery to fix.

The Yankees are 22-18 on the season. Aaron Judge has been a beast at the plate with 12 home runs and 24 RBI, while Gerrit Cole has been dominant on the mound with a 1.37 ERA.
