The Chicago Bulls got their first win of the season Wednesday with a 112-110 home win over the Charlotte Hornets. Shooting guard Zach LaVine was the hero. The high-flyer hit two free throws with 0.5 seconds left in regulation to help the Bulls avoid their first 0-4 start since 2007-08.

Zach LaVine finished with 32 points while shooting 10-of-22 from the field, 1-of-5 from beyond the arc and 11-of-12 from the free-throw line. It was Lavine's fourth-straight 30-point game to start the season. He now joins Michael Jordan as the only players in franchise history to open a season in such fashion.

After signing his new four-year, $78 million deal with the Bulls in July, Zach LaVine knew there was going to be outside pressure for him to stay healthy and live up to the money coming his way. So far, a case could be made he is exceeding everyone's expectations.

LaVine only played in 24 games last season after missing majority of the year recovering from left ACL surgery. The high-flyer averaged 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists, shooting 38.3 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from 3-point range. LaVine’s new contract with the Bulls does include language that protects the franchise in case his surgically repaired knee develops further complications.

The Bulls' offense is going to be running through Zach LaVine until second-year forward Lauri Markkanen returns from his elbow injury. The Bulls' decision to match the Sacramento Kings' offer sheet for LaVine is looking like a rewarding decision so far.
