The Green Bay Packers were able to see plenty of success in Matt LaFleur's first season as head coach. After being eliminated from the playoffs though, it's apparent that the Packers need to address the wide receiver position in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Of course, Davante Adams is Green Bay's No. 1 wide receiver on the roster still. Despite missing four games in 2019, Adams still led the team with 83 receptions for 997 yards and five touchdowns.

In the past three seasons, Adams has developed into one of the NFL's most well-rounded receivers. But when Adams first joined the Packers, he was playing alongside the likes of Jordy Nelson, James Jones, and Randall Cobb. The Packers once had tons of depth at the wide receiver position.

Fast forward to now and Green Bay no longer possesses the luxury of multiple wideouts that can be relied upon in the offense. With that in mind, here are two major reasons why the Packers should take a receiver in the first round of this year's draft.

2. Marquez Valdes-Scantling hasn't proven himself yet

When Green Bay selected Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, they expected him to become an immediate factor in the offense. However, Valdes-Scantling has shown that he's going to need more time getting acclimated to the NFL.

In his first two seasons, Valdes-Scantling has combined for 64 receptions, 1,033 yards, and only four touchdowns despite starting in 20 games. Given his inconsistent production, the Packers attempted to trade for someone ahead of the last trade deadline.

Even though the Packers were unable to land anyone via trade, they knew they were shorthanded at wide receiver. Now, Green Bay has the chance to improve at wide receiver in the NFL Draft. Luckily for the Packers, this upcoming draft is littered with surefire prospects.

1. The window for Aaron Rodgers to win is gradually closing

After making the NFC Championship game in 2019, the Packers are focused on getting to the Super Bowl in 2020-21. At the same time, Green Bay understands that their window to win with Aaron Rodgers is gradually closing.

Next season, Rodgers will be playing in his 16th year in the NFL. In addition, Rodgers will be 37 years old by seasons end and is beginning to show signs of his age. That shouldn't come as a surprise as the All-Pro quarterback nears the end of his career.

With Rodgers not getting any younger, the Packers need to surround him with more weapons. Even though he isn't the same quarterback he once was, he's still capable of making plays with his arm. If Green Bay can give him a talented wide receiver alongside Adams, the Packers should be contending for a Super Bowl in 2020.
