The Orlando Magic are a squad in dire straits. The franchise from Florida is having yet another completely lost season.

The Magic are currently in the bottom ten of most basic statistical categories in the NBA, and in the bottom five of many of them. Overall, the team really needs major help right away, and they need to hit reset on the squad as set up right now. As the trade deadline approaches, here are two players the Magic must pursue before the trade deadline hits.

Caris LeVert

The Indiana Pacers, according to The Athletic, are ready to trade Caris LeVert, Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner. As the Magic do have Mo Bamba, Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter Jr, it would be counterproductive for the front office to target either of Indy's big men. However, LeVert might be the way to go for Orlando. He's a young veteran at 27, and has shown that he can ball out on the NBA stage. LeVert would bring a lot of scoring and diversify the Magic's abysmal offensive attack.

Right now, the Magic rank 28th in field goal percentage, 28th in field goals made and 24th in free throws attempted. These stats are truly horrific, a ringing endorsement of Orlando's need for additional playmaking. With the way LeVert plays, he can get to the line a ton and come in and improve these awful offensive numbers. His efficiency, granted, is not great, but the Magic need to take what they can right now.

Of course, injuries are a concern. LeVert has been a health risk throughout his career, the biggest reason he's failed to make good on his potential thus far. However, with the state the Magic have time until their young guns approach their prime, so LeVert can sort out his health just in time to contribute with his teammates. This move isn't necessarily about the present anyway; his current injury issues don't guarantee future ones.

It is important to mention that even with a stacked frontcourt, the Magic have likely discussed adding all three players the Pacers have made available. However, it simply makes the most sense to go for LeVert, who could instantly alleviate some of Orlando's offensive struggles. The former Brooklyn Nets guard could certainly benefit from coming into a situation without pressure, where he can resolve his injury woes issues in peace and with time working in his favor.

Ben Simmons

If the Magic really want a true reset, they should pull the trigger for Simmons. There are serious discussions to be had about how worthwhile this effort would be, as the cost might be huge. However, no move signifies a true change of circumstance like a major trade coming out of the blue. The logistics of the trade would be hard to envision given the Philadelphia 76ers' asking price for Simmons and salary-matching complications, but that shouldn't stop the Magic from calling Daryl Morey.

Simmons is a risk. No one in the basketball world would tell you otherwise. However, no NBA team has gone to the highest of highs without taking a few risks. Simmons requires a change of scenery and some time away from the spotlight. As his current team is vying for an NBA title, a trade to the lowly Magic might do just the trick. In Orlando, Simmons would be completely free to run the team and every facet of the team would be his.

On the court, he could kickstart one of the worst defenses in the NBA. A lot has been said about the struggles of the Magic's offense, but they are also absolutely horrific on the other end. Orlando ranks 28th defensive rating, 29th in steals, 28th in points allowed and 24th in both opponent field goal percentage and three-point percentage. It's safe to say those numbers would improve with the reigning runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year in tow.

The Magic need to shake things up or they will continue to be completely irrelevant in the NBA. Trading for Simmons would make Orlando the talk of the league, at least temporarily, and could lay the long-term foundation for this team to finally re-emerge as a factor in the Eastern Conference.
