The Los Angeles Rams are set for the NFL season as they look to be one of the best teams in the NFC. To do so, they'll have to elevate their game to new heights as the NFC West is extremely competitive this year. With an elite defensive unit and an offense shaping up to be one of the best, the Rams could make a deep playoff run this season.
Although that's true, Sean McVay and the coaching staff still have to make some roster cuts. For that reason, there could be some surprise roster maneuvers as we approach the 2021 season. One of which could be on the special teams unit, as it could come down to the player who is most available.
Additionally, the Rams made a move on Wednesday after acquiring Sony Michel via trade. The New England Patriots are stacked in the running back position, and Los Angeles needed some depth after Cam Akers fell to injury. However, there is a chance Michel comes in and takes over as the main starter, sooner rather than later. With that said, here are two Rams first-stringers in danger of losing their starting jobs.

Rams Starters to Watch
Johnny Hekker
Johnny Hecker is the highest-paid punter in the league right now, but he's struggled to stay on the field due to COVID-19. For that reason, Corey Bojorquez has remained on the roster, as he could be a nice second option if Hekker misses some time. Bojorquez led the league last year in yards per punt and has looked solid throughout training camp and preseason.
He recently came off of the COVID-19 reserve list while his teammate Johnny Hekker remains on it. LA might consider keeping Bojorquez, as he's a good punter who comes at a much cheaper cost. Keep close attention to this position battle, as the Rams could have a new starting punter this year. It's more than likely Hekker retains the starting job, but Bojorquez is a good enough punter who poses a legitimate threat.
Darrell Henderson
After Cam Akers fell to injury, Darrell Henderson assumed the role of starting running back. Xavier Jones and Jake Funk serve as the backups, which wasn't an ideal situation. To fix the issue, the Rams front office traded for Sony Michel who aims to be the immediate backup running back. Although that's true, Henderson is dealing with a thumb injury of his own. This leaves an opportunity for Michel to earn the starting role almost immediately.
If that's the case, then Henderson could lose his starting job to Michel due to unavailability. Michel had a rocky start with the Patriots, but he's been efficient with his opportunities. He's in a perfect situation to resurrect his career and serve as the main option in the Rams' backfield. Look for Henderson and Michel to work as a strong duo this year, increasing LA's odds of being one of the top teams in the league. Keep an eye on the Rams backfield for now, as Michel very well could take over the starting role immediately.
