After enduring another disappointing loss on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Seattle Seahawks are in a bind. With star quarterback Russell Wilson out injured and Geno Smith doing all he can to keep the team afloat, there are some tough challenges that lie ahead for Seattle.

Now that the Seahawks have some adjustments to make prior to their Monday showdown with the Saints, they are hoping to right the ship and get back to their winning ways.

If anything's certain, it's that the Seahawks need to make some serious changes if they want to make it back to the playoffs this season. Coming off a close loss to the Steelers, let's take a look at the two biggest takeaways for the Seahawks after their brutal Week 6.

Seahawks have gotten stronger contributions from their defense

Despite their tough loss this past weekend, the Seahawks got a strong effort from their defense that made a few critical stops and allowed their offense to make some big plays that would eventually send the game into overtime. Although they couldn't convert and gain any momentum in OT, their defense still came through and provided them with the boost they needed to get back into the game.

With big performances from Bobby Wagner, DJ Reed, and Jordyn Brooks, the Seahawks were able to slow down the Steelers' high-flying offense and turn things around late in the game. They couldn't keep this up in overtime, but they showed signs of improvement from previous weeks and though they still have a ways to go, big performances from their star defensive players are a good sign for them moving forward. If they want any chance at beating the Saints next week, then they'll need some stellar playmaking from these guys.

Geno Smith has been solid

He's no Russell Wilson, but he has kept them competitive in every game he's been under center and put up decent numbers in each of the last two games. They still have some work to do on offense if they want to pull out a few wins with Smith running the show at quarterback, but he's off to a solid start and things can only go up from here.

With his poise and persistence in the pocket, Smith has shown his ability to keep Seattle's offense efficient and productive as they look to continually make tweaks and adjustments to their offensive game plan. Hoping to come away with their third win of the season against the Saints, Smith will have to take his game up a few notches as the Seahawks aim to get back in the win column next Monday night.

Now that Wilson is expected to miss the next three games at the very least, Smith will have to do all he can to get better each game and make sure the Seahawks don't take a free fall and lose their footing. Especially considering that they're already playing in the most competitive division in the NFL. As he seeks to get his first win as Seattle's starting quarterback next week, Smith will need to have more than a solid game for the Seahawks in their pivotal Week 7 matchup against New Orleans.
